The Head of Automation and Technologies is responsible for maintaining, developing, and enhancing sorting and depot operations technologies across Eastern Europe. This position involves strategic management of automation processes, coordination with regional managers, supplier management, and ensuring the achievement of strategic goals while maintaining cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously review and improve sorting and depot operations technologies to enhance efficiency and support parcel operational processess
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Develop, prepare, and analyze comprehensive KPI reports to monitor operational performance related to technology across the region.
- Automation of Processes and Technologies:
- Drive the automation of processes and technologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Use the latest technologies solution in robotics and process automation
- Material Flow and Intralogistics Planning:
- Design and optimize material flow and intralogistics processes for different kind of parcel operation setups.
- Plan and implement yard management technologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Continuously review and optimize existing technological processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with GLS Group technology teams to ensure alignment and integration of new technologies.
- Plan and oversee technological transformations in parallel with business development needs.
- Possess knowledge of technology automation and robotics solutions
- Oversee parcel sorting and handling technologies, manage suppliers, and lead tenders to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
- Manage and coordinate maintenance and support for applied technologies to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
- Develop and manage supplier expectations to ensure they meet the company's operational and quality standards.
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers to ensure effective collaboration and support.
- Develop and monitor strategic goals for capacity management to ensure they are met.
- Manage and control operational costs to maintain budgetary efficiency.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce expenses without compromising service quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial material moving technology management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce and interpret comprehensive KPI reports.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with quality standards, audit processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align operational activities with broader business objectives.
- Proficiency in cost management and financial oversight.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills relevant to the Eastern European region are a plus.
