We are looking for our new
Senior Power Trader
who will
lead, manage and maintain power supply and trading business and developments through market information, pricing/product development, and innovative business opportunities. Managing MOL Group's energy demand cost-effectively and profitably. Responsible for initiating, executing, and controlling physical positions and 3rd party transactions (e. g. , wholesale or retail).
These would be your main responsibilities:
Lead MOL Group's power supply and trading strategy implementation, propose and update strategies, and develop business reports and presentations for decision-making.
Contribute to Renewable Energy, Hydrogen, and Biogas projects, aligning with the 2030+ Strategy and collaborate with the Natural Gas & Power Supply & Trading team.
Generate innovative solutions for cost savings and margin/EBITDA enhancement, develop and implement new power trading opportunities, and track and report power PnL developments.
Develop new pricing, products, market analysis, and alternative monetization opportunities for the power trading portfolio, and maintain and develop market relations to ensure up-to-date information flow, focusing on European and CEE regions.
Coordinate and conclude long- and short-term deals on the Hungarian power market, including cross-border capacity auctions, supervise deals through their full life cycle.
Manage standard and flexible electricity purchase/sales contracts, keep contracts updated to meet legal and regulatory compliance, track electricity market changes to apply required strategic and operational adjustments for cost savings and margin maximization.
Support electricity purchasing for MOL Group's subsidiaries, assist in obtaining trading licenses, establish companies in new markets, harmonize and update energy purchasing/trading regulations and processes to ensure compliant operations and manage audit support.
Operate and supervise scheduling, online metering, and trading systems, maintain control mechanisms for Power Supply & Trading activities, ensure risk exposures are managed in cooperation with risk management, and optimize P&L through hedging.
The perfect candidate:
Has a BSc/MSc degree in economics or engineering
Speaks Hungarian and English on an advanced level
5+ years professional experience in energy market logistics or commercial activities
Outstanding knowledge of energy markets, logistics and infrastructure
Understanding of legal, financial, fiscal and operational aspects of physical trading
Experience in coordination and/or integration of different functionalities
Solid understanding market structure, pricing mechanisms, price risk and principles of its mitigation via inventory and position man-agement tools
Has a strong knowledge of MS Office, Trading platforms, ETRM system
